Black Beauty Eggplants are the most popular eggplant for home gardens. Fruits are nearly round and almost black. Fine, pale-yellow flesh just great for breading and frying. Mature in 80 days.
Planting guide: Sow seed half inch deep indoors in a box in a sunny window or in a hotbed. A warm temperature is essential. When the plants have their second leaves, transplant or thin to 2 inches apart. After danger from frost is past, set outdoors in rows 3 feet apart and 2 feet apart in the row, but before doing so, harden the plants gradually exposing them to the outdoor air for about a week. It requires 8 to 10 weeks to grow plants ready to set out.
